Dragon Models continues to make the most of their M48 Moulds with the announcement of a 1/35th scale IDF Magach 2 (2 in 1) in the offing. There is no release date as yet, but I suspect it is not too far away.

Definitely got to get it. I keep waiting for them to roll out an M60A1, with the Blade kit as an option if you please!

Does this kit come with 2 lower hulls? Magach 1 has 5 return rollers while the 2 has 3. Are both engine decks included also? Magach 1 has the early style with the exhaust venting out on top through deflectors to prevent the main gun travel lock from seizing whilst the later 2 version through redesigned rear doors. Same rear deck that was used on later (Magach 3/M48A3 and after) diesel powered versions.

Bottom line. Magach 1 is a M48A1 while the M48A2 is the IDF Magach 2. Box art also depicts the Magach 2/ M48A2.

You must be thinking about the Tamiya style of M48 hull... In Dragon kit the return rollers are attached to the upper hull part and fenders are separate. And yes, this kit comes with two complete upper hulls and with two complete engine decks.

That actually is not true. M48A2/Magach 2 used similar, but still significantly different and not interchangeable with M48A3 engine decks and rear doors. The kit comes with correct newly tooled parts for M48A2.

Yes, but don't pay too much attention to that illustration. It was based on earlier, not final CAD drawing and shows the M48A3 Mod.B/M48A5 style headlight guards. The kit comes with proper M48A2 style guards.

Well, whateverthewho. I'm in for 1 or 3 or 7. Long over due and I will enjoy the hell out of this kit.

Correct me if I'm wrong (a real possibility) but this kit WILL build a '67 version, right?

Yes, it's an M48A2C as delivered by West Germany to the Israelis shortly before the 1967 war.

So the 'net is strangely quiet about this kit now that it's out there. Anyone have one? What do you think?
