I found tamiya dsert yellow to ,shall I said "harsh" or too dark.some one suggest dark yellow plus wood deck tan.
But watching the news ,I notice that iraqi M-1 tend to be "yellowish" look like dark yellow,surely these are brand new paint.

Hi there seems to be lots of variations in American desert colours but if you can get it Hannants Xtracrylics Xa1812 US gulf war armour colour is a good match , I Generally do a mix of desert yellows and buffs to get a faded look , best of luck , Birchy UK

I did mine a base of Dark Yellow followed with a lightened version (Matt white).

As recommended by Gino Quintiliani, Model Master 1706 Sand FS33531 is pretty much a dead on match.

Sunny weather and sand dusts of the middle east tend to make the desert camo look brighter than it actually is.

When cloudy, the camo looks whole lot darker, like this one.

I used the acrylic version on my Abrams and it has a pink hue to it and doesnt look right.

I use the Testors Model Master enamel version of FS33531 Sand and it looks the same as the vehicles I have served on and seen across the Army, esp. once weathered.

I find the base colour is always to harsh but lightening each panel down then a spray of very thinned clear yellow helps.

Vallejo Model Air Sand 71075 is good.
