Started painting my Tunisian Tiger today and had a hard time laying down a base coat of RAL 8000 using Mig ammo paints, anyway after about an hour or so and many light coats later the base coat was on but I was not liking this Gelbbraun colour so I went over the paint with RAL 7028 followed by a light base coat of Dunkelgelb.
The final colour will change when I apply a dull coat and filters and oils.

Why were you using RAL 8000 as the base? RAL 7008 was the base at that time, and 8000 was the camo applied over 1/3 of the vehicle.

RAL 7027/RAL 8020 was the combination used after March 1942 until the German surrender in Africa.

That picture does not specify which color should be used as a base coat.

I thought it was 2/3 8000 and 1/3 7008
I think we need to hear from David, that's his site.

I used the Model Master enamel version of 8000 + 7008

Ah, crap. Yeah, I reversed the combos. It is 2/3 8000.

Bovington's Tiger (completed shortly before Dunkelgelb was ordered to be the base colour in 02/1943) was 8000/7008, so clearly the 8020 scheme was not universal from 1942.

Tunisian Tigers were painted RAL 8000 with a 1/3 pattern of RAL 7008. That was the specified Tropen scheme from spring '41 to spring '42. After that it was RAL 8020/7027. The Tigers used the first pattern colors.

The instruction sheet calls out 8020 as a color used to paint some parts of the tanks which were replaced, repaired or just painted with that color when installed.

I'm building Tiger 142 from the RFM kit and it has Dark Gray Feifels and a RAL 8020 tool box. This is clearly seen in the famous Life Magazine color photos of the tank being blown all to hell by US troops
