Is it correct to say that the first picture with the berets were very early in the war only?

The berets were worn in the Polish and French campaigns. The berets were unpopular with the panzertruppen and later the sidecap replaced them. Some soldiers wore their field grey caps until the black ones were issued. I already ordered figure # 35227 from the Alpine Miniatures site. I like the opened jacket and pose.

Thanks for the comments, guys! As Greenmachine mentioned, the beret is for Polish and French campaigns. However, if you go with the head with side cap, you can use these figures for any stage of the WW2.

I've wanted some top notch early war tankers for quite a while. With the extra heads with the side caps gives a person LOTS of options. THANKS!

Nice to see some more of the early war era berets.

These are great! I was just thinking the other day that I needed some early-war panzer crew with the oversized head cover and ta-da! There they are! The inclusion of optional heads just makes them all that much better.

Thanks again for the kind words, guys! These figures should go well not only with the early war tanks but also with armored cars. If you are brave enough to change the collar tabs and paint the uniform in field gray, you can use them with early StuG.

I think that that much courage most of us have so that's no problem. I really like the open-jacketed figurine, the casual pose is such a nice change from the stick-up-the-you-know-what that some figures seem to be. Great job!
