They've made a large scale Merkava, now they offer this one:

The set was discussed some time ago, general consensus was that it appears to be a Adler re-issue by SOl.

The "blast bag" looks very nice. What kit is this for? If you could use it to convert an Asuka early (M3 type suspension) that might be really neat.

The resin kit depicts an M3A5, which was a diesel version. The Academy kit has the Wright Continental Radial air cooled gasoline engine, like the M3 Lee and M4/M4A1 Sherman.
M3A5 could also be seen with the smaller Lee turret.

In British parlance this is a Grant Mark II. That was the later version of the Grant. Sadly most pictures of Grants do not show the rear deck or the rear is covered in gear so any number of Grant puctures could be showing the diesel engined variant. I have found two pictures where it can positively determined. One series of well known pictures are the South African Grant command vehicle which is a diesel engined Mark II. Records indicate several hundred were sent to the 8th Army. My wild guess is that they were with other diesel engined tanks like Valentines and later Sherman III.

M3A5 with the Lee Turret were not exported. All reports of them in Lend-lease to the British or Russians are not validated by available references.

So it's a Grant Mark II.

The hull has the 75mm M2 with the counterweight, which indicates the fitting of the stabiliser.

Were there Grants with the stabiliser in the hull and not on the 37mm in the turret? Would have thought that it should have the 37mm counterweight under the barrel on the rotor.

Looks a nice set. Anyone know how much it might be going for?
