Can anyone tell me which specific version of the Sherman is depicted in the film, 'Kelly's Heroes'? Is there any small-scale kit that would be a good match for this version?

I built this one once. The tank in the film was an M4A3 with a 76 mm gun in the small turret. I used Tamiya's kit.

By small scale what do you mean 1/72?

see this site: http://www.172shermans.com/

You're looking for an M4A3 75mm wet that was refitted with a 76mm gun or M4A3W

http://www.172shermans.com/sherman_M4A3_list.htm

In 1/48 Hobbyboss makes this version as did Bandai.

Here's the sscalemate listing of 1/48 Shermans (The Bandai kit is not listed because it's ancient and hard to find)

https://www.scalemates.com/products/reviews.php?scale=1%3A48&topic=M4+Sherman

Hope that helps.

The Kelly Heroes is a M4A3E4 from the Yugoslavian army. I don't know of any conversion sets to depict the modification made to the movie prop outside 1.35.

Paul said he was more interested in modelling the vehicle in a small scale [not 1/35], anyway.

yeah I saw that but I did see something interesting on the Formations site. It show all the changes made to the kit to make it Oddballs ride. Could give him an idea as to what to change. Now its got me thinking I might want to one in 1/35.
