I've spent a bit of time researching this and I'm totally confused. Hopefully, someone has the answer.

What is the actual color used for some of the modern solid Green USMC vehicles?

To me, it looks like it is merely NATO 383 Green, that is used in the current tri-color camouflage. The opinion online seems to be 50/50 between 383 Green and Forest Green. Can anyone clarify this?

Modern USMC green is NATO Green. Older vehicles in the '50s-'80s were a lighter color. A close match is Model Master Medium Green (FS34102).

Thanks Gino. That is what it looked like to me and it seemed logical, but you never know.

Prior to NATO TriColor, the base color was Forest Green FS 34079.

A lot of the prior NATO CARC TriColor, the Navy and sometimes the marines didn't go out of their way to paint their equipment in the MERDC pattern.

Good info, Gino. What FS number is the closest?

WW2 USMC, their green was different than OD, true or false?

The actual FS for the green used in the NATO camo is FS34094. There are a number of options out there for paint, it will come down to what looks right to your eye before weathering.

Marine Corps’ too cheap to drop extra pennies on a different shade of green for overall versus camouflaged vehicles. I’m pretty sure they would of charged the Vehicle Commanders/crews to paint their own vehicles if they could find a way . Here are several shots I snapped at Barstow – fresh out of the paint booth for the most part (think dealership “new”).

Everything from the 70-80's came from the factory in standard Forest Green FS 34079

Even replacement parts and such.

Funny how many people remember FS34079 Army Forest Green to be lighter than current Green 383 CARC FS34094, while in fact it was significantly darker... (http://www.colorserver.net/showcolor.asp?fs=34079%2C+34094)

You're correct! I guess the deal is that the NATO / CARC green is a brighter green... almost unnatural green to me. The old enamel paints faded all the time so maybe that's where it comes from too.

Speaking of Barstow...

This is completely and apologetically out of text. If you google map Barstow, actually the Yermo base, look in the south-west corner, where the RR tracks peel off to the north, its full of ship propellers and radars.
