I decided to start a new thread[ http://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/258801&page=1 ], as the other was designed to deal with the AAVP. I now know that I can represent an armored M-998 fielded. with the AAVP. I have the Academy M-998. However, I need to replace the clothe doors with armored ones. Will doors for Tamiya's M1025 fit the Academy kit? If not, are they difficult to modify? Would I be better off scratch-building new doors? TIA

I guess I'm not clear what you're wanting to end up with.

You mentioned Armored but I'm assuming you mean a USMC slant back with unarmored "X" doors. Is that what you mean?

No, Tamiya door will not fit. Besides, for your project you need armored doors like in this kit, not the basic type as in the Tamiya kit:

If you want to build a USMC M998, you just need to buy the Academy kit. It has the correct armored doors and cargo bed panels.

Perosnally, I would suggest the Italeri M998A1 below:

It is a way better kit than the Academy M998, with better detailing and part fitment. The tyres are crap, but you can find some replacement ones for those.

I found that Eduard makes a set of armored doors.

The closest kit Italeri offers is the IED gun truck.
