I'm motivated to build a M4A1 (large hatch) with 76mm gun and HVSS suspension. During WWII, these were made only by Pressed Steel Car (PSC) and were the last variant of the Sherman produced during WWII (Jul & Aug of 1945).

I've done a bit of searching and have only found a large hatch M4A1 hull (cast hull) on the old Italeri kit. It seems Asuka & Dragon have never made this variant, nor anyone else. I'm likely to buy an Italeri kit just for the hull, and use a Tasca M4A3E8 kit for most of the other parts. I'm hoping that the Italeri hull is somewhat compatible with the Tasca kit (fingers crossed).

Is anyone aware of any other M4A1 large hatch hulls available from ANY manufacturers besides Italeri?

At this point, only Italeri has the M4A1 76W hull. A cheaper alternative might be to get the Tamiya M4A3E8 -- generally less expensive than the Asuka/Tasca kit

Absolutely cheaper, but I already have the Tasca kit in the stash with no other plans for it.

???

Dragon makes the same variant M4A1 as Italeri. The M4A1 76mm operation Cobra kit. Tamiya makes the M1 Super Sherman which is the precise variant you wannt just minus the HVSS. Also any M51 kit has that hull. Most of the M51 kits have the engine deck seperate so a standard M4A1 deck and exhaust can be dropped in. So the hull can be sourced from Academy, Dragon and Tamiya.

Some have already built M4A1E8 by getting the hvss sprues from Tamiya and using them on the M1 super Sherman kit. I'm being backward and bashing two Italeri M4A3E8 and M4A1.

So there are three different hulls besides the Italeri.

Cyberhobby has rereleased the Dragon Operation Cobra M4A1. https://www.amazon.com/CHC9155-Cyber-Sherman-Backpacks-BUILDING/dp/B06XZ9JMHX
You'll need to source the HVSS, of course, and you'll need a late 76 mm turret upper shell (available as an optional part in the Dragon M4A3 76(W)VVSS Premium Edition Kit). I think the Dragon "Thunderbolt VII" M4A3E8 kit also had it, and that kit would also give you the HVSS.

Thanks for the help guys. I found a deal on the Italeri M4A1 on eBay for $13.27 + $5.00 shipping. I should have everything I need for the conversion with the Tasca E8 kit supplying most everything else. Plus I have a ton of Sherman spares lying around too.
