This is Tamiya Medium Gray, XF-20 and Khaki, XF-49 mixed 50/50 and sprayed over a dark gray primer (Krylon).

I am no expert as I have just recently started building modern/Israeli armor but from what I have read and from pictures I have seen, anything close will do as long as you're not building something right off the show room floor. If you look at pictures of an Israeli tank park or a group shot of several tanks none of them appear to be the same color. Most are usually obscured by a layer of dust making it very difficult to determine the original color. Wayne's Tamiya recipe is a good one. There also seems to be some variation in the color of sand grey, sometimes more greenish sometimes more grey but then again it could be due to dust and or lighting. I guess its the Israeli version of what color is dunkelgelb.

The colour has been doctored in this pic. The blue range is extremely high. That is why the shadow under the hull is such a vibrant blue and why the under hull is not gray.....

A quick play doing a 50% reduction in the blue hue gives you this:



Lifeclour state their Israeli Sand Grey 1961-1973 AS FS 30372 equivalent which is

The uniform colour also comes closer to what it really is without so much blue.

Also I read another recent post that states the Merkava 1 never had anti slip....
