The second part of news from ToRo deals with several decal sets in 1/35 and one in braille scale, providing additional marking options for French and Polish vehicles.

Just a remark about the markings for the Free French Sherman "Vendome". The typeface used for the word "Vendome" should be different on each side :

But you can hide Toro mistake

Henri-Pierre,

If you look carefully at the tip of the "V" just visible over the logs on the third picture, you can see it appears to be as "skinny" as the one on the left side view on the first picture.

Could the tank or markings have been repainted at some point?

You're probably right, but what about the letters on the turret? Toro seem to have missed that.

Or maybe the crew added that when they covered the hull side.

Cheers,

Christophe

Yes Hervé, I've noticed that as well, and also the fact that the tank in the second picture appears to be in a better shape than in the two other pics....Maybe this could mean that this one would be the original "Vendome" which would have been repainted later, but I don't see the reason why

I've just checked out Chars-francais and most of the pictured Sherman from the same unit (5e RCA) show the same typeface as on Toro sheet...

Tidy up, repair and repaint for some parade? Victory parade?
Visit by high ranking commander? Maybe CDG himself?
Officers doing their best to keep the troops busy when there is a short pause in the fighting?
Did the Vendome survive until the end of the war or was it replaced by a new one?

"Vendome" was destroyed on January 28, 1945 in Alsace...Chars-francais has no info about a possible replacement.

While double checking Chars-francais website, I've finally found another 5e RCA Sherman with the "other" typeface :

...but I don't know what to do with that
