Kay,
The tanks that TF 1-23 IN used for Foal Eagle 98 (FE98) were M1A1HAs from APS-4 in Pusan/Busan. If my memory serves me, the tanks were painted NATO-flague, had the reinforced driver's and loader's hatches, laser reflective optics, and T-158 track. EDIT: I saw the pictures that were posted on ML and the tanks were in CARC Green (FS34094).

Which kit to use. The Meng M1A1, either of the Rye Field kits (M1A1/A2 2 in 1 or the Desert Storm M1A1) or even the DML M1A1 AIM will work. The RFM Desert Storm M1A1 has the parts to build a later M1A1HA. A set of AFV Club T-158 track is also needed as those APS-4 tanks had the older version of track with the solid center guides.

I was the operations officer for one of the two tank battalions in 2ID and had spent the summer and early fall leading up to FE98 training the two tank battalions (53rd & 55th) of the 5th ROK Armored Brigade in the use of MILES equipment to serve as the opposing forces to TF 1-23. Cadre from 1st BDE 2ID served as the observers-controllers for the maneuver portion of FE98, which took place north east of Seoul.

Let me know if you need any additional information.

John
