I have been working on a new project. A diorama set in the Syrian civil war. I will include a couple of vehicles and about 6 figures:

I recognised some paracel figures and I was wondering what other brands you are using

And mike, I have gone through a lot of figures and Paracel's are up to par to the best of them: good molding, crisp detail, right scale, etc. The owner, Jang is a really nice guy. On my first order the package never arrived and he sent me a second package free of charge. His service is nice and friendly. He even sent me an e-mail inquiring if everything was all right after the earthquake we had. Like I said, really nice guy.
And Mark, not long ago I used to say the same thing. Even now I say I am far from the "Masters", but I have fun, and practice, practice, practice. There are several good tutorials of different techniques on You Tube. Try them all, and find what works for you.

As promised I will do a little tutorial on the syrian camo with my next figure. So I will pick up where I left it:

I had previously painted the face, so I started with the T-shirt. First a base of Vallejo Military green. Then a wash with Citadel's Thraka green wash. And finally dry brushing with the base color (military green) and a touch of white. I covered the face and arms to work more easily the dry brush.

Next, on the uniform and the webbing I applied a base color, going with the lighter color of the camo. I used vallejo dark sand with a touch of yellow green.



To this base I applied a wash of Vallejo sepia wash:



Then drybrushing with the base color with a touch of white:



This will give a basic effect of lights and shadows.
