Both are available. The Dragon runs in mid $20's the AFV in Mid $50's. So a 30 dollar difference. What makes the AFV cost twice as much? Are they including the radar setup, tons of PE or maybe figures? Is the accuaracy sooooo much better as to justify spending more than twice as much if there is no extra stuff?

That's a really good question.

I couldn't find a review of the Dragon kit, just the AFV CLub.

The Dragon kit has 150 parts and the AFV has 228. So I'm guessing that the launcher the AFV offering is much more detailed than the Dragon kit.

Does that justify a $30 difference? Not for me, it doesn't.

I am not an expert on the HAWK, but based on pics online ..

If this pic is anything to go by... AFV Club gives you better fit.
http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10501912/30/1

Also the AFV club has the six hole wheel on the trailer which Dragon only has on their box art..... and I can't find a pic of the tyre Dragon portrays. It is similar, but distinctly different.

AFV Club seems to have a back on their launcher cradle where Dragon has.... open air....

and that is just from a cursory look.

If you want to replace the wheels and tyre - the total cost goes up.

AFV Club kit is accurate. Dragon one is not. Whether it matters to you and if accuracy is worth extra cost is a personal choice. Both look ("kinda" in case of Dragon) like a Hawk once built...

The issue of accuracy boils down to level. I remember people pitching hissy fits because the number of bolts on the drive sprocket were off by one. You needed a magnifying glass almost to see them. Or a guy complaining because the wingspan of some 48 scale plane was off by 3 scale inches...how did he find that out use a micrometer. Then again as in the M103 the shape of the bow and several other things was way off. So the question of accuracy is how much. Super details or something blatantly wrong. I understand rivet counters and those who are reasonably close...Im a reasonably close...but dont want to pick up something that would require extensive modifications. LOL with the M103 you are stuck because its the only game in town. But here I have a choice. 30 dollar difference is pretty significant if you have to pay for it

Oh and Peter I did see pictures of it with the 4 hole wheel. Vast majority though are 6. May have been a Bundeswehr deal

Well a new Dragon kit sure beats trying to rework a Renwal or Life-like kit.

Now how about a crew in 1960s era fatigues as were in the old Lifelike kit? For 60 year old kits those were decent figures.

Yes there was a 4 hole rim seen in some pics, but the tyre was the actual issue I raised with Dragon's kit.

I used to have the GI Joe HAWK toy as a kid! I don't recall many Joe specific decals though, except maybe the missiles? What will you do for the figure of Hawk then?

Anyone else remember or have the old GI Joe kits released back in the early '80s? Always thought they looked cool!

Damon.

I cant recall if it did have Joe decals, but usually everyone of them did..havent yet researched it,just got the kit in afew days ago. Im sure I can bash some 35th scale figures to make Gen Hawk. Yeah ,used to have some of those models too..in fact, the HumJeep model was played with just as much as the toys were lol
