Hi all, new member here.

I have been out of armor for the last 10 or so years and just getting back into it. I see a lot of Legend Productions and Live Resin MCTAGS turrets and they show the M3D Dragon .50cal and M2 Hellfighter .50cal mounted. Were those actually used by the USMC on the M1114 and M1151 with the MCTAGS turrets? I would like to do something similar to a USMC M1151 or M1114 as shown int he link below.
https://i0.wp.com/www-legend.co.kr/wp/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/LF3D016.jpg

Also, I want to do a USN SEAL M1114 with the SAG turret with either an M3D Dragon or Hellfighter .50 cal with the 3,000 round ammo can on the side. Did the USN SEALS use that setup on their M1114's like the one shown in the link below?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

A couple more questions hoping someone can help with.

Did the USMC M1114's and M1151's use the extended exhaust pipe on the left side and did they carry the spare tire rack on the back?

Terence,

Hope some on line references could help you. Are you familiar with Bret Sauer's excellent website on HMMWV's? Link here: http://hmmwvinscale.com

Also PRIME PORTAL has this and other vehicle photos.
Link here:
http://primeportal.net/home.htm click into the BATTLEFIELD section and pick an item for the photos.

Good luck!

Hi amoz02t,
Thanks, yes, I have been to those two sites but no definitive answers for my original questions.

After hours and hours of searching online, I did however find a couple photos from stateside showing the USMC M1151 with the extended exhaust and the spare tire rack.

Would anyone have a couple Tamiya 1/35 M1025 or M1046 extended exhaust pipes for trade? If you made the Army versions and didn't use the extended exhausts I could use 2 sets. The Tamiya parts are A10, A11 and A12.

Thanks,
Terence

Hi Piotr,
Thanks! I saw your builds and they are terrific. I was wondering about references for the weapons like the M3D Dragon and Hellfighter .50cals that Legend Productions and Live Resin show in their MCTAGS and SAG turrets that I linked in the original post. I haven't found any online images that show them being used. I would guess that the Live Resin set 35142 would only be used on the SF vehicles but still haven't found any references showing it used.

I see you used the Perfect Scale Modellbau USMC M1114 HMMWV Conversion Kit for your M1114. Did the Marines use the standard window layout on the M1114 as well or only the specific windows shown on your build?

Nice to see you have the extended exhaust and spare tire on your M1151. I plan to do mine similar to yours.

Also, did any Marine M1114 or M1151 use the Ibis Sun Tek bumper and IED Detector?

Terence, I'll try to clear this or that

1) I've got +100 photos of USMC M1114 and +60 of USMC M1151. No M3 Dragon, no Hellfighter. Only standard weapons - M2, M240B, Mk19. But it's only +160 photos, not many when it comes to Humvee ;

2) I'm pretty sure that LR 35142 set is a little bit sci-fi. Haven't seen any reference for this ammo box on a Humvee;

3) USMC had some M1114s with Frag 5 armor kit, so MAK (this one from PSM conversion set) wasn't the only one they used;

4) I've got some photos of USMC Humvees with Ibis Tek FPB. I don't know what You mean when writing 'IED Detector'.

Hi Kuba,
Thank you!

OK! I will go with standard weapons. I have the regular M2 and M240B and M240G versions.

So I can build a USMC M1114 with the standard door window layout as provided in the Bronco kits and add the MCTAGS turret?

The IED detector I am referring to is the square object on the staff pole connected to the front bumper.

I am wondering if the USMC carried that on the Ibis Tek bumpers or without the bumper.

Here is one on an M1151 without the bumper.

Here is the one from Voyager Models.

Sorry for the links. I am using Imgur and can't get the photos to show on the page.

Use [ img ] before a link to the image and [ /img ] after it (but no spaces). Of course direct link to a .jpg (.png, .gif etc) image. And You'll get something like that:

This square is Rhino device, heated electrically, causing IR IEDs to explode.

Yes, You can go with M1114 Frag 5 (Bronco CB35092) and MCTAGS turret or You can use an O/GPK turret from this set to make an USMC vehicle.
Rhino... I've seen one photo of M1114 Frag 5 with Warlock/Chameleon anti-IED device (this dome-shaped antenna), so I'm pretty sure it was a Marines Humvee (Army have got its own anti-IED systems - f.e. Duke). Generally - I think it won't be a mistake to make an USMC Humvee model starting with Bronco's CB35092 and adding a MCTAGS turret, Ibis Tek FPB and Rhino, but I'd add also a Chameleon antenna (from Voyager PEA254 or PEA260, or Blast Model BL35160K). Not such vehicle in my photo database, but - as I've written above - not a mistake, quite high probability

Hi Kuba,
Thanks for the help and info, greatly appreciated!

I got the images to work now.

Do you know when the USMC M1025's and M1046's got the armored doors and gun shield? Was it right before OIF started in 2003 or during the invasion? I have the old Blast Models BL35052K armored door resin set and wanted to put them on my Tamiya kits. I also have the Echelon ED356209 USMC OIF decals. The decals don't mention the armored doors.

I also have the Blast Models BL35050K late weapons ring set with the gun shield and smoke dischargers. Did the USMC use the smoke dischargers in OIF at the start? Again, not shown on the Echelon decals.

I plan to do both in the NATO camo as the Echelon decals show but with the armored doors and CIP panels in desert and was wondering if those would go with the Echelon Decals for the time period. The Echelon decals are for the 3/4 Marines in Baghdad and show the decals applied to the original doors without the armor.

Also, for a 2003 OIF M1046 TOW version, when adding the pintle mount on the weapons ring for the M240, do they use the same pintle mount as they did for the M249 as shown in the photo below?

Did the M240 in 2003 have the rail on top as shown on this Live Resin M240G? If not I can always cut the rail off.

Same for the M249 SAW. I have the Blast Models and Live Resin versions but the Live Resin version has the rail on top. Do I use the Blast Models version (creme color) or the Live Resin version (gray color) for a 2003 M1025 for OIF?

Terrence,
A rule of thumb, but not written in stone is that the US Marines(for the most part and I'm sorry bothers, are the last to get new stuff.) Yes, they do sport the new MCTAGS turret, but as far as the new barrel and the spotlight, that is seen mostly on SF vehicles.

As for the Legend set for a Marine vehicle, leave of the spot light and go with the regular barrel, but the scope is standard issue thermal scope for Army and Marines.

Jay, thanks for the photos.

Pete, thanks for the info. I will go with the standard M2 with the thermal sight for my M1151 then. Is this the way the thermal sight attaches to the USMC version or is it the same as on the Legend set?

I do plan to do an M1114 SF version so I will save the M3D and Hellfighter .50cals for that one.

The M1046 looks like it had multiple types of secondary weapons stations.

Here is the main one I found that attaches to the left side of the TOW guidance box for the M240. This is the type I have seen most commonly used when carrying the M240 with the TOW. The pintle looks like the one from the main A frame weapons mount. This is the setup I would prefer to do.

In this next photo, the M1046 is carrying an M249 but with a different secondary weapons station which is away from the TOW guidance box. Is this secondary weapons station platform the same one as in the Blast Models set? The pintle looks like the one from the main A frame weapons mount on the M1025 though.

This photo was from the one Jay posted above. It has yet another secondary weapons station with with yet another different pintle.
