Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone knows what the cables used for synchronizing AA fire in flak 88s (the ones on the reels mounted on the trailers) looked like. Were they smooth or ridged as in the DML kits?

Although I have lots of 8.8cm references, I only found a few pics which showed the cables in their reels with enough detail to discern any pattern or not. I have one of a Flak 18 and it certainly looks smooth. I suppose the 1974 Tamiya kit's depiction is more accurate than the DML kits on this one feature.

BTW: I love the DML kits. Get a Lion Roar PE set for all the tool mountings on the SdAnh 202 bogies. They really make a difference!

I know the PE set is really good for his kit, but unfortunately the 88 is 99% done. All that’s left is the cable reel attachment. I even fully wired the gun itself but didn’t go for the PE set.

These are the connectors from Verteilerkasten to individual guns:
the Kommandogeraet 40 was connected to Verteilerkasten(distribution box), that divided and distributed the ranging signals to each individual Flak gun.
The connector in the middle has some of the original cable still attached.

I think you should go for Tamiya's version.

Thank you! Unfortunately I don’t have very much leeway left with what i do, the flak is almost complete. I think I’ll go for smooth cables made of solder wire.

The old type telephone wire works well also

I have not yet tried phone or copper wiring, but have had a lot of success with the solder wire, mainly because it stays exactly the shape you set it to. The downside is that it’s leaded though.
