Which Zimmerit for this Russian Panther?

I can't quiet figure it out from this photo; is it the 'waffle' pattern (Meng type 'B')?

I would say it is the "waffle" pattern. Hard to tell from pic, but that makes it either an MNH or DB built Ausf. A.

Does this actually mean that different factories applied different zimmerit patterns? In other words, you can actually tell the manufacturer by simply looking at pattern they applied on the vehicles?

Yes, at least with the Panther. Each factory applied zimmerit in a different pattern. Along with the location of the Balkenkreuz (applied at a different location by each factory), help the experts identify which factory built a specific vehicle.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen the Alkett ‘waffle’ pattern on a Panther so it looks much more likely to be the scored grid pattern to me. Plus it actually looks like that in the photo😉
