Hello there

I'm having a go at making a model of the famed "Belvedere" here and need some help from those more knowledgable about Shermans than me (that's quite a lot of people, I know). Inside the rim of the commander's hatch are pads... what were they made of/covered with? Enamelled canvas? Leather?

Thanks in advance

Sean

Hi mate. I've seen them as leather coloured pads and black leather as well. I paint mine a red leather colour. (Have a look at mine on FB Matt.E.Models).
All the best.

I'm not familiar with the term "enameled canvas" but the crash pads around the inside of the cupola ring and on the underside of the hatches were cloth-covered foam rubber. The cloth was specified as olive drab, so it could have the same color variations seen in other WW II textiles.
