I am looking for info on the M-110s of 2/142 Field Artillery (Arkansas National Guard) in the mid 80s. Primarily did they have A1s or A2a (Maybe M-110s. The regulars were just getting over treating Guard units like red headed bastard step children at that time. If it weren't for Desert Storm the Puerto Rico would still have Springfield Trapdoors.) Would they have been MERDC or NATO colors? If MERDC , which version? I contacted the 142nd, but they aren't to talkative. Only thing on line I've found is a couple shots over in Iraq.

Wow M110! The New Jersey guard still had a mix of M109A2 155 sps and M101 105mm towed howitzers. I recently built the truck and gun combo using the ancient Revell M35 truck and howitzer just for the true vintage experience. A handful of the M35 were still gas powered relics.

I think now the 142nd had MLRS and M-109s. Friend is from Little Rock and his bro is a career Red Leg. Another friend is working on an M-107. (Mines bigger than yours!) Figure the combo is a good excuse to build a kit. Hey, Gino. You are St. Bab's right hand man .... I seem to remember you mentioning the breech on the Italeri kit is a 107 breech. How big a difference is there?

A little info on the Arkansas M110s...

By ODS, '90-'91, 2/142 FA had M110A2s, according to this pic. The M110A2 entered service in 1978, so it is reasonable to think they had them by the mid '80s.

The breech on the Italeri M110s are the same as on their M107. The M107 kit only kas the longer 175mm barrel. The breech parts are the same as in the M110 kit. The breech looks the same, but is 28mm (2.8cm) larger on the M110 (203mm).

Steve at some point the we got 110A2s. I remember watching crew drills in Fort Dix. I know it was before I made E-7 in 94, but can't be specific and they were MERDC.

Only photo I've been able to find of a 2/142 rig is the one during DS in tan. I did find a couple shots of gate guards at Ft. Chaffee and Camp Robinson that were 142nd rigs. They were in NATO colors, but not a good reference. Sounds like MERDC gets the nod for colors. Now, just need to figure out bumper codes. I figure right side would be "C **" I know numbers would be the vehicle in company / battery. Would the guns have been in a set range, or were the numbers arbitrary? What would the left side be? "?? 2-142FA" ?
