Workingon the Academy Humvee Ambulance. Kit has a circular part, in real life would be about 8 inches. Mounts on the passenger side front of the hood. Has 3 rectangular "panels" on it. I'd almost think it was some sort of solar panel set up/. Anybody know what it is?

Bridge weight marker plate? Not sure it that’s the proper nomenclature, but pretty sure that’s what you’re talking about

Don't think it is a bridge weight marker. The assembly instructions shows it placed on the top of the hood where it will be difficult to see from a distance
Part C37:

https://images54.fotki.com/v1642/photos/5/504634/4475134/Academy1352F-vi.jpg
There is some writing in Korean letters above the part number which makes me believe that this part is only used for one marking/nationality.
On the first page of the instructions it is shown together with the grille protection (part C41, smaller images) but not on the one without the grille protection (the large image).

If you're talking about part C27 (per the instruction sheet that Robin posted) then yes - it is a bridge classification marker. I know I've got photos of them somewhere but can't find them at the moment.

The MLC for a loaded M997 should be 4.

Appendix E, page E-10

I found this:

Mounting the plate on the vertical front makes more sense to me .....

This plate was often mounted on the engine hood too, as shown in the kit's instructions.

Ah! I see now. Like I saidit had 3 little rectangles on it. I had not seen that type of bridge marker before. The old yellow circle ones and directly painted on ones. Plus on the top of the hood..... Guess it's on it's way to the spares bin. I don't think Israel uses them. Thanks
guys.

Hey. I hope it's not too late yet. Do not used the kit part as it way too thick and has no details. Not every vehicle is fitted with a MLC. If you can get the Eduard PE set 35166 there's a nice MLC included. Far as I know this set is out of production. If you can't get it, leave it off. The correct numbers for the M-997 should be "04". The postion on the hood is correct.
