Hi, found on facebook that Rye Field Models will release a Challenger 2. Does anybody have more info about that?
I would like to see that and same time hope for a decent Challenger 1, too.
Cheers / Stephan

Hello,

on scalemates, this news was removed: https://www.scalemates.com/topics/topic.php?id=2069

Hope this is not the end. I am missing British modern tanks.

Best wishes
Moritz

Hi Moritz, the way how it was announced was just a photo from a dealer's homepage. RFM normally advises their news with CAD pictrures. I hope that RFM will really release the Challgener and as said, a Challenger 1 would be even more welcome. That could replace the old Tamiya kit which is based on a prototype.

Another thing we could use along with a up to date challenger II
is a better kit of the Warrior MICV and AS90

Sorry to rain on anyone's parade, BUT.... The notice on Scale mates now has "Removed" tag. Hopefully it's only because someone was a little too eager to let us know about planned releases, rather than it being a non-event.

Well, you know what? It had to be 10 or more years ago now, but AFV CLUB announced an M8 HMC (75mm Howitzer Motor Carriage), based on the M5A1 Light Tank. The announcement read "Coming Soon", and it ran in AFV CLUB's product listings for nearly a year. All of a sudden, the M8 disappeared from their listings, and the kit never materialized. So who knows what might have happened with RYE FIELD's "Chally"..? We may still see this kit come to fruition, (hopefully), and then again, maybe not...

The fact that Scale Mates deleted the item may mean no good.
Anyhow, we modellers are seeing a lot of nice kits coming alon, even with new manufacturers, so maybe one day... And there is a German saying "where is smoke, there should be a fire", so I continue looking forward. In the meantime I should make my Challenger from Trumpeter, the one with the extended armour is not bad at all...

It looks like it was announced as, "Rye Field RM5031 1/35 CHALLENGER II-due August/September 19 ", But most places have now deleted this.

Fingers crossed that it was just that the message was sent out too soon, Would love to see more modern Brit. armour.

@ Nick, I am waiting for MENG Chieftain. It was never released, although all the CAD's were nicely done and they took care for every small detail, even the floating profile. But I still hope that they take up this project again.

I wouldn't put any faith in that date TBH as Jumbilies Models have never hit a target date for kit releases or coming into stock yet in my experience.

This is hopefully great news, never know we could get a whole family of Challenger kits😊. Regarding the Meng Chieftain I contacted them on their Facebook page recently regarding the release of said Chieftain kit and they replied saying that it was still on the card's to be released at some point.

As said, the MENG Chieftain would be highly appreciated. And of course, coming back to the initial subject same is for a decent Challenger 2 and also Challenger 1.
Bring them on.
