Is there a painting guide somewhere for this set. In particular what color should the metal canisters hanging off the bustle rack be and what are they called? Also the color and nomenclature of the two boxes with hinges on them that look to be held in some kind of frame on the side of the turret. Thanks.

The longer canisters are mortar round boxes. The more square metal boxes are .40mm ammo cans. Both should be dark green, like all other US Army ammo cans.

The long ones are for 40mm ammo (for the two Bofors in the M42).
In David Doyle's Duster book there are photos of both green/OD and grey (or possible faded metal?) cans.

Cheers,

I'd rather paint the Bofors cans that way...

They are gray as they came from US Navy stock.

I know nothing about these guns, but....

Could those “faded green” cans actually be old navy stock, acquired by the army, and the cans really are gray?

On a side note, the one pictured in my previous post is a 1944 box.
