Hi folks.
Would a M1a1 with mine plow fit onto the M747 trailer?
The pics I have seen with just a standard M1A1 I would say no.
Is my assumption correct?
Pics would be a bonus.
Thanks

I doubt it. The trailer is too short to fit both. Also, it would be way over weight. The Abrams alone was over wieght for the trailer.

Hi!
If a tracked vehicle with front equipment (such as mine plow) is transported, it is backing up on the trailer. Reason is the angle of approach at the ramps which does not allow the normal direction. So, with the plow between the ramps, lenght might not be a problem. Also, in Desert Storm it was common that HETīs were massive overloaded.

TM 55-2350-255-14 says on page 5-2 that the load bed is capable of 60 tons and that tests indicated that the M911/M747 combo is well capable of hauling loads up to 70 tons. Reduced speed will then be practised.

So, I donīt know the answer but I would guess it might happened.

In Verlinden Warmchines book no.8 A Gulf War Eyewitness Report there's a photo of a plow-equipped M1A1 backing onto a transporter which I think is an M911/M747 although it's hard to tell from the photo.

Thank you all for responding.
Your knowledge and expertise is most helpful.
Maybe I will model the M1A1 with plow being backed on to the trailer.
Could make for an impressive display.
Your knowledge blows me away.
Once again, thanks to all of you.

I know it is and it is historically incorrect. Its not mine, just one I lifted off the web. The intent was to show how full the trailer was with just the Abrams. Frenchy's pic shows it much better than any I could find (as usual).

The trailer is definitely an M747. I can't clearly make out the tractor, but it may be an M911 C-HET based on the way the side mirror mount looks.

Somewhat similar rear view on a confirmed M911 C-HET
