Hello everyone;
got a couple of questions for the German WW2 Armor pros here.
1. would the hatch(tile) pattern Zimmerit be correct on an Ausf A?
2. were there ever screens for the engine deck made for the Tamiya Panther A.

I know my selection of kit is not the most accurate depiction of a Panther A, but i chose it mainly because i'm just getting back to building armor after a few years and i chose this kit for its simplicity and to practice my painting and weathering technics.Any help is appreciated and pics of the mantlet area of a Panther A with the "tile pattern" Zimmerit would be a huge help also.Thanks in advance,Ron.

The type of pattern depended on the manufacturer of the Tank, not the model. There were 4 manufacturers, MAN, Daimler Benz, MNH, and Demag, all of whom produced the Ausf A with distinctive patterns.

Meng sells separately the tile pattern Zimmerit (no.2) in 3D decal form to match their Ausf.A late.

The aftermarket Zimmerit sets for Panthers will not fit the old Tamiya Panther A kit, as it is not dimensionally the same as the current kits. On The Mark and Eduard offered photoetch screens for the Tamiya kit at one time, but you will have to search for very old inventory, possibly on Ebay.

The tile pattern was seen on Panther A. The easiest way to do it would be putty and scoring.

No aftermarket zimmerit will fit the Tamiya kit because it is completely misshapen and just plain wrong. The Eduard set for the Tamiya A may still be available as that ancient thing is still a big seller. One set is listed on Ebay currently.

You can try various screens for other Panther kits like the Tamiya D or G set as the intakes may be the right shape.
