How thick was the cast nose-plate of the Hotchkiss - no more than 40mm? So the British 6 lb'er could easily penetrate it from normal combat ranges?

According to Chars-français.net, 40mm is indeed the maximum armor thickness for the H 35/H 39 tanks...
