Has anyone seen the actual resin in Meng's Mexas thermal blanket set? I can't seen to find pics of it and don't want to spend $50 on junk

I do actually have that set. The resin looks good, dark grey and quite hard but it will take some removing from the pour sprues. On the plus side, the attachment points, though large are 'offset' so shouldn't lead to any damage if removed carefully. Quality wise, the casting is first class and from first impressions the fit is good though I haven't started building the kit yet so it's still sealed in the bags. The price is high but if you can find the set for a reasonable amount I would say go for it.

The fatal flaw in the set....you cannot mount the turret hatches open with the turret resin mounted as the turret MEXAS interferes with the proper fit. You’d have to cut circular holes where the turret hatches would naturally sit against the thermal covers so they sit properly in the open positions.

The Panzer Art product is the entire turret as one resin item with the cover molded on it...so sort answer is no it does not have the same issue as the Meng offering.

As I side not note I recently used (tried to use) the resin basket for their Merkava Mk.IV. It totally did not fit as is had srank and warped, so beware of Mengs resin products.

Isn’t Meng’s set missing the cooling device?

Yes it is, but you can source it from one of the Legend update sets.

That’s expensive Jon!
Would it be this set?

I suppose, but I intend to use the set to update the Takom kit, but the cooling unit isn’t needed since it doesn’t have the thermal blankets. Build one MEXAS with and one without the blankets.
