Hi all
I'm currently building the Academy M1151 and would like to add some wiring to the radios and computer.

Here is how the radio sets in the kit look like. There are also 2 loudspeakers under the radio sets.

Academy gives you one "phone" set only. Is this correct?
TIA

Maybe some of the pics in this thread may help ?

Pete Becerra has posted SINCGARS pics on Primeportal :

http://www.primeportal.net/misc/epifanio_becerra/radio_equip/index.php?Page=1

One of them shows a similar setup (2 x RT-1523C(C)/U = AN/VRC-92) :

Merci H.P.
It looks like there are many configurations even with the same radio sets!
Sometimes the microphones are plugged to the sets themselves, sometimes to the plugs on the right of the rack.
It is a bit of mystery. I'll try to do my best with all the great pics you've shared

Of course not Pete. But when I searched the site for SINCGARS, I didn't go further than the first result. I must be getting lazy

Sorry Pete. I thought you did an article about the commos in MRAPs and for some reason I didn't think it would apply for Humvees. Stupid me.
Thanks for the reminder.

I thought I remembered that article as well. Very good stuff. I've also got the photos mentioned in the first highlighted thread if you want them. I have them for both the the M1114 and M1151. I can't remember which one has the alternate method of mounting th FBCB2 on the back of the TC' s seat - much more useful arrangement. You're welcome to the photos - home in two days.

Thank you for the proposal Robert. You can't have too much references.

Yes Olivier,
The article shows a work bench set up and some from a MRAP, but it is all the same.

There are different installation manuals for each vehicle. Doesn't matter if it is an A1, A2, etc. It is all the same for the basic vehicle.

When it comes to installation, the manuels have it set up pretty basic: where is the radio mounted, where is the battery to power the radio or the distribution box that routes power to different things, and where are the antennas. Cables are routed out of the way of foot traffic as best ass possible.

Pete
Thanks to your article I have done the basic wiring. I will cheat for the back of the radios and the speakers.

Academy doesn't give you the CPU for the computer so I didn't add any cable to the screen. I will post pictures later.

I would definitely recommend Voyager's PEA259 set. This will take your M1151's interior on to another level. I'm currently working on my M1151 with LRAS3 system, and this set is realy useful. Especially if you are going to put the BFT antenna. Here is what i have done.

My M1151

One more thing. That square part shouldn't be in M1151.

Regards.

Very nice interior Grzegorz!

Here is mine which is more simple. I'll cover the gunner stand with some crates or anything suitable.

Olivier,
Just remember larger items like that all need to be secured, lest they become missiles during an unhappy event. You'll see in the photos (home tomorrow) that our ammo boxes were tied down to the rack that sits atop the A/C unit located between the rear seats, as in your photos. There are tie downs on each side of the rack.

Thanks for your input Robert.
I intend to add the various straps later on.

Here is my basic interior befroe I glue the roof. I've added some pigments to give it a dusty look.
