It is already available in 1/35 from a few makers in both plastic and resin.

The Rye Field Models M1A1/A2 kit comes with a full interior in plastic.



In resin...

Legend has a set with the engine, inner engine compartment, and new top deck.


CMK also has an engine set.


The old Verlinden Abrams detail set has the open battery compartment parts.


The Italeri M1A1 "Special Edition" kit has an interior and engine. They are not very detailed, but they are there.
