Hi all,

I know this has probably been asked a zillion times but. Building the Dragon M48AC as a Marines variant and I just can't seem to find the info to pick out a colour.

Elsewhere on the web Tamiya XF74 was suggested but that seems very dark. AK say AK4013 Forest green which is an entirely different much lighter shade again.

I'm not worried so much about being a dead match but would like to be in the ball park at least.

Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated

Keith

I was happy with the way Mr Hobby H64 turned out!

They were dark. XF-74 is as close as it gets based on what I remember.

Marine Corps Green changed a couple of times from WW2 until the MERDC color schemes superseded it in 1974. Marine Corps Green in the late 1950's changed from FS 34079 to the darker FS 34054. In the early 1960's, it had reverted to FS 34079, a color that is available from Model Master as a USAF camouflage color. You may want to lighten it with Yellow Ochre for scale effect.

Thanks for the advice guys, Yes understanding the scale effect. I may use the Tamiya colour to work up from. A little playing around is in order I think

I recall sometime back that someone suggested that Tamiya's Dark Green (JGSDF) - XF73 was a pretty good match for USMC armour in Nam.

That's what I plan on using when I build my next M48A3.
