Hi!!!
I'm planning on building an M981 FISTV. I want to make it as the ones used during OIF, but I wasn't able to get much information. The questions I have:
1) Did they still use the M60 on the cupola or where they replaced by an M240 or M249?
2) Did they use the side skirts?
3) Markings?

Many thanks for your help! Cheers and happy Xmass!

Most had the shortened sideskirts, and all had the M60 mg.

I'll post some scans tomorrow.

Here are two pics from Concord's "100 days, 100 hours; Phantom Brigade in the Gulf war". (3rd Brigade, 3rd Inf Div)

There seems to be a number in front of the chevron, just visible over the soldier's shoulder.

Archer makes suitable transfers with coalition chevrons:

Stencilling. Not sure if the size will fit.

The right mre's are in the older Tamiya US modern accesories set. (#35141)

Legend makes some usefull stowage sets.

Be aware that the sand colored paint in ODS was paler than the one used during OIF. Tamiya Buff might be a good match.

Hope that helps.

Completely missed that he was asking for OIF. Was thinking about ODS...

Now I'm interested in the M7 BIST (which is new to me).

There were a few M981s still in use and deployed during OIF. B-FIST Fielding was ongoing as OIF kicked off. 3 ID had already been fielded. 1 AR Div out of Germany still had their M981s when the 3rd Bde, 1 AD deployed in the summer of '03. They were in NATO camo.
