Like the title says, "Why can't some company do a military D7G Cat?"

This is/was the standard dozer for US military Engineers for a few decades. It is the perfect load for all those M870A1 trailers out there.

Open cab.

Armored.

Cold weather cab.

On M870A1 trailer.

On current M870A3 trailer being pulled by an M983A2 LET (as in the Trumpeter kit).

One could be made by updating the Mini Art WWII D7, but it would take a lot of work.

Maybe if we all ask for one, some company will make it...Trumpeter, Mini Art, Mirror...

I know, I know. If I build it...it will come.

There are innumerable threads like this - why won't company X produce kit Y. The answers are all pretty much the same in each thread.

No, we don't need anyone to scratch build one. If that worked we'd have had an M1 240 mm Howitzer years go when I scratch built that beast. (photos on old artillery quiz thread)

No, what we need is,
a: A company willing to expend the capital on the tooling, based upon their expectation to sell enough kits to make a profit, and,
b: Someone to research the hell out of it, photographing it from every conceivable angle and measuring it often and accurately.
Hmmm... Kinda like when the research I and others have done for various companies...

An earlier, Vietnam-era D7E would suit me even better (with or without a Rome Plow) :

Been asking for a D-7 for years. Have a folder full of pics and stuff a guy from the landclearing web site sent me years ago, but I'm not that good at scratch building. Also Caterpillar has a stranglehold on their brand name and copyrights. Wayne

Most companies have figured out a solution for that one:

You may have heard this before . . .

It's about the money. It's always about the money.
