Hey all,

I am working on a diorama and find myself in need of a female peasant/farm wife or girl type figure from WWII or earlier. My issue is that I can't seem to find much available at all. I have seen several Miniart civilians but they all appear to be a little more uptown than what I am looking for. I picked up the Masterbox Napoleonic Red Lancer kit with the female but the 1/32 scale is a little too noticeable for what I am doing.
Anybody have any suggestions?

Cheers,
Rick Cooper

Stalingrad makes great Russian peasant/farming figures. Mig (not ammo of mig) made a nice older Russian farmer with a cane and his wife with her arms in the air with what could be described as an expression of grief or anger, etc. Hope that helps. Those two and the Verlinden set someone else mentioned can be found on ebay and I get my Stalingrad figures from military miniatures warehouse here in the states.

Hi Rick

MK 35 Miniatures, available from Fields of Glory Models www.fieldsofglorymodels.co.uk might offer you some suitable subjects.

I know you said you've looked at miniart but I don't understand what you meant by uptown. If you can point out why this set doesn't work perhaps other people can give you better ideas.

Thanks everyone for such a quick response.

Now just to sort through and find what works best. Cody, sorry for the vague wording: I kept getting the civilian sets made to populate the trams which had a much more urban look to them which is what I was trying to avoid.

If I can't find what I'm looking for now it's on me. Thanks again everyone who responded.

Cheers,
Rick

There are also a few sets from MB and Miniart showing rural type folks from the Western area of Europe.

Thanks everyone for chiming in. I ordered the Miniart Soviet Villagers figure set. It looks like the young girl with the yoke and buckets will fit perfectly with what I have in mind. I'll post some things as I get them finished up.

Cheers,
Rick

Yes, but...Preiser figures are generally hard to get, unless you order on-line. I've gotten a few, but compared to companies like Mini Art and Master Box, they are very soft in sculpting and details. For plastic figures I'd stay with the main plastic companies!
