Russian KrAZ-260B Tractor/CMAZ/ChMZAP-5247G SemiTrailer , was this tank transport used in the Vietnam War, by any of the countries fighting in the conflict.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have been trying to find any information on the internet but , I couldn't find anything about it being used in the Vietnam War.

Happy modeling.

Hi;

I would venture to say; maybe in and around Hanoi yes, but most roads that were not maintained would not be able to take heavy loads as most were soil based. Now the NVA would not risk there heavy equipment as they came closer to the DMZ ! And the NVA would not be Stupid enough to try to move in Broad day lite !

CHEERS; MIKE.

The first production batch of KrAZ-260 was delivered in 1981. AFAIK the Vietnam war was over by then….

From what I can find, the Soviet tank transporter during the Vietnam war timeframe was the MAZ-537. I don't know or think any were actually used during the Vietnam war though.

"The MAZ-537 was manufactured by the Minsk Automobile Plant (from 1959 to 1965) and the Kurgan Wheel Tractor Plant from 1963 until halt of production in 1990."

Trumpeter makes one in 1/35.

Vietnam indeed has MAZ 537's. Whether they are leftover from the war of war sold to them afterward I don't know, although they have been upgrading their military capabilities with vehicles from all sorts of places - Finland, Poland, Israel. They even have T-72's in their inventory.
