Hardly a revolver; try perhaps a Browning P-35 and I found it odd that he'd be kneeling over an American M-16; I didn't know that the Australians were issued with it this early in the war. I could be wrong.

Some of the NCOs and officers carried M-16s. Others carried L1A1. Because of the hand to hand theme, I'd guess we would be looking at the battle of Long Tan. Glad to see Aussie troops!

Agree - a 9mm Browning HP would have been the weapon of choice rather than a 1911.
There is a lot more accurate information available - however to give a general appreciation you may find this useful:
Australian Platoons had three Sections plus a platoon command element. Generally the Platoon Commander and lead scouts for each of the three sections got an M16. Each Section (US = squad) was comprised of three groups - Scout, Rifle and Gun group.
Scout Group = Section commander plus two scouts (lead scout got the M16 and the other two carried L1A1 Self Loading Rifle or SLR)
Rifle Group = 3-4 riflemen all with SLR.
Gun Group = Section 2IC plus Gunner (M60 GPMG) and Assistant Gunner (known as Number 2). 2IC and Number 2 carried SLR.
Around the period 1966 the lead scout might carry the 9mm Owen Sub-machine Gun. This was gradually phased out in favour of the M16.

The Aussie Officer offered appears to be inspired by the movie Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan.

For anyone interested in the history, Delta Company 6 Battalion Royal Australian Regiment encountered the North Vietnamese D445 Battalion and 275 Regiment in a rubber plantation in Phouc Tuy province on 18 August 1966.
At the end of the battle, Delta Company held the ground.
Delta Company's commander Major Harry Smith then fought for over 40 years to have his men appropriately recognised by the Australian Government. Final awards were not made until 2016.

Wow.....no Owen Guns for years and after "3D IN SCALE" printed my request several years ago now we have heaps to choose from....Bravo 6 will hopefully make a set with "skeleton stocks" also, as the Aussies in Vietnam and WW2 used both versions.

Yes as mentioned the 9mm Browning looks like what the figure is using, equally as good in a firefight as the colt 45 although after firing both I found the Colt 45 is a heart stopper over the 9mm Browning. The downside being the magazine capacity of the Colt 45 .

What is more surprising to see is the Owen sub machine replicated in resin.
One of the best sub machine guns used throughout the later part of WW2 by a lot of Australians in the Pacific.

OK, I'm tempted to get this but what else is coming along with this set?
