Can you paint rubber tracks? I’m building a Tamiya Tiger 1 and would like to make them look more realistic.

Any other suggestions to create a more realistic look are welcome.

Yes, they can be painted for various scale effects.
I wash them first in denatured alcohol. Isopropyl can also be used to clean them of mold release.
Then prime them with aerosol can enamel flat black.
Then use acrylics and with pigments for desired effect for location of model.

I do the same with your preparations as well...with one additional caveat. I spray the whole track with Testor's Dullcote...which seems to 'seal' the paint. No flaking at all after all these years.
