I would be grateful if anyone could tell me if the internal element of the gun - and its ancillary equipment - were painted red oxide underneath the creimweiss overcoat.

I'm thinking specifically of a 'chipped' effect which will obviously require an undercoat colour to come through

I would think the interior portions of the barrel would be finished in the same temperature resistant black enamel that the exterior portions were painted.

I believe Gerald is correct. I have seen parts of the breech called out black.---John
