Hi all,

i'm curious about the javelin launcher tubes that the missile sits in, the large black end caps are they all sold plastic/foam or are they recessed? and why is it in some pictures when the missile is being fired they have been removed from both ends and other times the rear end cap still seems to be attached?

The resin offering from Blackdog has holes in the two end caps so i am not sure how i should proceed as i want to cast some copies for personal use

The end caps are dense foam and mainly to protect the tube when shipping and handling in the field. The center, recessed area, of each blows out when fired. Usually, the front foam cap is removed before firing since it can interfere with the line of sight of the CLU.

It sounds similar to the set up of the Dragon missile tube. The foam caps are for protection. But under the front foam cap is also a thin plastic sealing diaphragm. The rear foam cap is blown apart by the backblast of the launch motor.

fabulous video Frenchy, that helped me out a lot. I can just put a blank disk over each end of the tube section and the two rubber/foam pieces can be cast separately.

thanks to everyone that helped me out here again, you guys are great.

Here is the Javelin round that I have 3D designed for the next model I'm going to build: an ICV Stryker used by Special Forces in Northern Syria in 2017.

I have not designed the CLU because I wiil only attach one or two rounds to the Stryker walls.
