Very impressive! Its shape and the camouflage can make it very difficult to see. It worths to shot some photos with a natural background to see the effect of the camouflage.

Dang Marcos, I think this is the best digital paint job I've ever seen on Armorama! And that's saying a lot !
You must have the patience of a Saint and nerves of steel to cut all those masks so square. What did you use for masking ?

A 3 out of 3 beer rating ! For the best digital camo job I ever saw !
Thanks Marcos for sharing !

Great painting, Marcos! How did you mask it?

Looking at this vehicle always reminds me of the tanks in the first TRON movie from 1982. Looks like this concept is already a few decades old ....

WOW! That is just out-fu_king-standing! I'm blown away. That is the best digital camo I have ever seen. Do you have any in-progress shots? How did you mask it? What colors did you use? What company's paints? An excellent job, Marcos.

That looks awsome. It is a little too Sci-Fi looking for my taste, but looks awesome all the same.

The biggest take-away I have from it is the great-looking Bradley square block ("Bigfoot") link-and-length tracks. They could be very useful. I hope Takom boxes these up separately (with new sprockets - see below) or has plans to strap a Bradley or two onto them.

Gino,
Was there something wrong with the AFV-Club "workable" big-foot tracks for M2/M3 (and CV-90)?

Nothing really "wrong" with them, per say. They look great. However, they do not fit any older generation (Tamiya, Academy, Dragon (M270)) Bradley, MLRS, or LVTP/AAVP kit sprocket. I am not sure what they are supposed to fit. There are other options in newer kits (Meng Brads, Hobby Boss LVTP/AAVPs, Trumpter MLRS/M4 C2V), but not as a separate set.

In all fairness, I am pretty sure the issue is not really with the AFV Club tracks. I believe new sprockets w/the AFV Club tracks would fix the problem.

The issue seems to be the older, triangle block tracks, or at least the 1/35 representations of them, have a different pitch. The Tamiya, Academy, and Dragon (M270) sprockets for older Bradleys and LVTP-7s have only 10 teeth.

The newer sprockets in Meng (M2A3, M3A3), Hobby Boss (LVTP/AAV), and Trumpeter (M270A1/M4 C2V) kits all have 11 teeth (as does this kit).

Also, I was not able to fit the Hobby Boss M2/M3/LVTP-7/MLRS Early indi-link tracks onto the Tamiya M2. The Hobby Boss LVTP-7 kit they come from (w/early tracks) also has 11 teeth.

Again, the pitch was an issue. I was able to use the indi-link triangle block tracks from the Dragon M270A1 MLRS kit on it though. So I think the issue is with the tracks/sprockets in the older generation kits not being correct. My guess is that they all copied Tamiya's incorrect track and sprockets.

So coming back to the tracks in the Takom PL-01, I guess they would have the same issues as the AFV Club tracks. Without new sprockets as well, they won't fit any older kit, precluding you from using them to update an older kit.

I used a pre cut masking sheet that I found at a local hobby shop. It is made by Douglas Models. That simplified things a lot. BUT you have to be careful while setting the mask to align the squares or otherwise it will look odd.
The colors I used were Vallejo. Primer black, followed by black grey
(70.862) to give it a little light. Then green grey (70.886) with a touch of neutral grey (70.992). Last deck tan (70.986).
I had to repaint some of the squares with the darker colors because it came out too "white" or "wintery". Then some filters with oils and the usual weathering.

Thank you Erik and Brenton. It is an odd looking tank, but that is why I like it. And I had been wanting to do a tank in digital cammo, so this was a good option.

Hi Marcos,

I am highly impressed, absolutely stunning job!!! I have a leo 2A5 in the stash with urban camo (much bigger patterns) and I can only hope that mine will look half like yours.

Apart from your fantastic skills, this vehicle shape looks awfully strange to me - probably because I prefer the M60 / T-72 era tanks. But again, your job is really outstanding!

All my congrats!

Tamás

Thank you Tamas and good luck with your Leo. It is a strange tank, and maybe a taste of things to come? We will see.
Thank you Nigel. Cheers mate!

So Poland does use digital cammo. Because in the Takom instructions refers to it as a "What if" pattern.
