DJ, I moved this question to a new thread--hope you don't mind:

Quoted Text

General question does any one have a colored photo of a Sherman engine? I want to find out the basic color of a factory fresh engine. I believe, for example, that the various flexible exhaust connectors are an orange color.

DJ, the Squadron/Signal M4 Sherman Walk Around has excellent color shots of both the radial engine of the M4/M4A1 and the Ford GAA engine used in the M4A3. Highly recommended book listed at $12.96 in this month's Squadron flyer. (item #ss5701)

I can e-mail scans if you wish.

Rob--would you please scan? I check with my hobby dealer and he is ordering the book. Appreciate your assistance.

Will do DJ, which engine shots do you need? Radial or Ford GAA? Ford engine is not factory fresh and resembles those M113 engine shots I posted earlier.

Rob--the Ford engine is my focus.
Appreciate anything that you can supply.
What did you use to simulate the cables on the recovery vehicle?
I have white glue soaked string on the one I completed in the travel position.
thanks

A long time ago (late 70s) I got a kit of a large scale Cutty Sark by Revell. It included 2 spools of black and tan twine. This stuff is nice and does not have any "fuzz". I use this stuff. The spools were more than enough for the ship and many vehicles.

Rob--nice idea. I see where there are several shipbuilder sites that sell rigging thread. I'll take at some this weekend.
