USMC OIF - The Prisoner

by: Pete Becerra [ EPI ]

The tanker

The tanker is wearing a typical NOMEX tanker suit and Interceptor Body Armor. The head is wearing what looks like a regular Kevlar helmet but with the new style chin strap. The face is well done, but is a little too “cartoonish” for me. The NOMEX suit could have been done just a bit better in my opinion. Comparing it to my own NOMEX suit, there are several prominent seams missing. More noticeable is the reinforced rear which has been omitted.

The hands are molded onto the M16. I wish this was a separate piece due to the fact that you may want to change weapons. But since the hands are separate from the arms, it can be a simple matter of swapping hands from another aftermarket company

The insurgent

The second figure is from our own Anders. There is really not much I can say about this figure, other than it is well sculpted. He is wearing a long, long-sleeved shirt, pants, and sandals. The facial expression is outstanding and he looks like he knows he is caught and here is nothing he can do about it.

Last word (s)

Since I usually paint the flesh part separate from the main body, I barely tacked the parts on together with a small drop of superglue. The fit of the parts was so good and tight, I really didn't even need glue to hold them together.

Well, that makes four figure OIF sets and one head set so far from the folks at VLS/Warriors. There have been numerous in-progress photos on the net of other up and coming sets, and based on the past kits I’m looking forward to them
As far as this set is concerned, it is a welcomed addition to the ever expanding OIF/OEF range of figures.

Thanks to VLS for providing the review sample.
