Operational Overview The Atlantic Wall is one of the world’s most formidable fortifications! It stretched from Spain’s eastern border to the tip of Denmark, then continuing along the Norwegian coast. On March 23 1944 Adolf Hitler requested the construction of a system of fortifications to keep invaders out of his newly conquered Europe! Construction on the wall started soon after, the TODT organization being in charge of these constructions, and during early 1944 Erwin Rommel was put in charge of these defenses. He improved the wall by designing and installing new obstacles, and as time passed he added more concrete bunkers along the coast. The defenses ranged between simple trenches to complex bunkers and naval guns. The same year that Rommel was put in charge of the wall the allied forces started planning for the invasion of Fortress Europa! This campaign will allow modelers to test their skills at recreating some of these incredible fortifications or the efforts and planning the allied forces had to endure.
