Atak Canvas Cover for AFV CLub 251 D

by: Robert Beebe [ RBEEBE99 ]

The Kit

Atak has come to the rescue for anyone wanting to put a canvas cover on their 251 D. The kit is designed specifically for the AFV Club 251D, but they also offer a set for the DML kit. The box contains two covers one half that is folded back to the second rib, the other is a full cover the width of the fighting compartment.
The qualtiy of the casting is excellent on both, extremely thin and blemish free. Mine has a few small bubbles on the underside of the covers, but they will not be visible once glued in place. the half cover has 6 gates that will need to be removed, but are in an easy to access area and should not cause a problem. The full cover appears to have a casting block all the way around it, but on closer inspection is only attached in a few areas and their only by a hair.
Dry fitting them on my 251 showed a good all around fit with the proper overhang. The only thing to add will be the tie down straps.
Conclusion

Overall a great addition with the only somewhat negative point being the price, which might put some people off, however the only other alternative is to scratch build your own, and I for one am to lazy to do that
.
Thanks to Jadar Hobby for the always excellent service.
