21cm Morser 18

The Book

This new title by Rossagraph is number 24 in the series of small walk around type books. The text is written in both Polish and English ,and the pictures are excellent .

This 40 paged book starts off on the inside of the front cover with the technical and tactical data of the Morser. An interesting part is the discription of the vehicles and equipement used in the Motorized Heavy Artillary Battalion. Good information to have if you ever want to build a diorama. It also gives a list of who had these mosers and where they fought .

The next section are some pictures of the Morser during the war . These are not close ups but more in action pictures ,these are helpful to see how they were transported and also how they looked in the field. This section also has drawings of the Morser in the firing postion. You have drawings of the left hand side ,the top view ,front and back views . I wish they had added the right hand side as well as this is certainly quite different from the left hand side .

The text for the discriptions of the photos are not always on the same page as the pictures and had me flipping back and forth to see the explanations of the pictures. This goes on through out the book.

The next section tells us a brief history of the Morser now found at the Polish Military Museum and a great walk around ,with some excellent close up pictures . You can really understand the complex recoil system used on this gun .

Final thoughts
All in all a very good book on a not so well known piece of German artillary. I would recommend it to anyone interested in this gun.
