There is undoubtedly a strong interest amongst many modellers for photographic material covering the 'aftermath' of war and an equally strong interest in seeing vehicles under 'new ownership' the success of series such as 'Panzerwrecks' or sites such as 'BeutePaner' have undoubtedly helped to fuel this interest. Now, comes news of a NEW stufy of the subject from Concord Publications
Panzer in the Gunsights 2 - German AFV's and Artillery in the ETO 1944-45 in US Army Photos

Is published by Concord Publications and is written/compiled by Steve Zaloga The book consists of 72 pages, illustrated with 193 b/w photos and 16 color plates. For those who need it, it carries the ISBN: 962-361-109-9.

The book is different in that it is a collection of (captioned) images from the U.S. Signal Corps (who carried the primary U.S. responsibity for photographic documentation in WW2). Now there are images of this type available in other books and throughout the 'web, however the really valuable aspect of this book is the captioning of the subjects - something which is notable in Zaloga's other books. The subject of the photos are, naturally enough, captured, abandoned and destroyed German equipment in the ETO (European Theater of Operations).

The primary objective in the capture of this equipment, was to execute exhaustive technical analyses, on the vehicles and artillery pieces captured - to maintain as much of a possible 'edge' in development as possible...
