Dragon Models has released news of a new Tiger 1 in their line-up, this one is in the form of a Tiger I Initial Production "Tunisian Initial Tiger" 1.k. So those that missed out on the Cyber Hobby offering may want to look out for this one.
The first Tigers, issued to units on the Eastern Front, were painted Gray. When s.Pz.Abt.501, the second unit to receive Tiger Is, began deploying to North Africa in November 1942, some were over-sprayed in olive green paint to match the more temperate climate of coastal Tunisia. The unit fought effectively against the Allies, before German forces were forced to surrender in May 1943. This Tiger I kit achieves the highest standards that Dagon has set for itself and, of course, the vehicle carries all the specific characteristics of a tank from sPz.Abt.501. And to ease assembly, the tank includes features such as convenient DS tracks. This is truly a masterpiece, with this big cat ready to prowl the terrain of Tunisia in its distinctive green coat!

How does this one differ from Tiger 131 they announced a while back?

Instead of getting Dragon 6600 initial Tiger I+ AM Conversion set, this would be a better solution. I think...

According to what David Byrden told me, this Tiger and 131 are completely different. I'm personally glad to see it.

IIRC this is the one with all the DAK modifications whilst the 131 release is just a standard early-mid production Tiger with 131 markings included.

Not merely a "standard Tiger with 131 markings"...Tamiya provides that. Dragon worked hard to capture the specific details of "131" as it was in 1943 - without the changes made in the restoration. See these details of Dragon kit 6820.

Figures. I just finished collecting an Initial Production Tiger, The New TMD conversion set for 501 Tigers, and markings. Well, I suppose the only thing better than one 501 Tiger is two!
