Roden have announced a new-tool 1:72 model of British Armoured Car Pattern 1920 Mk.I. The kit includes decals for three markings options.
# 731 British Armoured Car (Pattern 1920 Mk.I)

The British Armoured Car Pattern 1920 Mk.I was one of the first attempts in the history of 20th Century warfare to combine the construction of the car with armament, making it well-protected against an opponent's firearms. In the construction of this car the chassis of the Silver Ghost was used as a basis. A new armored superstructure was set on top of it, with a rotating turret fitted with a variety of different weapons. During WWI this car found wide application at the fronts in the African colonies and the Middle East, where long and exhausting battles to rearrange the map of the world were taking place. After the end of the war these armored cars executed, not for the first time, the functions of police constabulary, and keeping peace among mutinous tribes. Some modernization allowed them to carry on past the beginning of WWII and take part in its first stage, again mainly in the colonies of the British Empire.

Colour schemes:
1. Armoured Car Pattern 1920 Mk.I, SV-4996, Royal Tank Corps, Derbyshire, used for anti-invasion patrols on 1939. This AC preserved at our days in the Bovington Museum.
2. Armoured Car Pattern 1920 Mk.I, “Ajax”, No.1 (AAC) Sqn, Egypt-Iraq, 1940-1943. This AC preserved at Hominstone Museum, UK.
3. Armoured Car Pattern 1920 Mk.I, Irish Cavalry Corps, Ireland, Blarney, 1941.

Except you need a 1914 Pattern Rolls for that, not a 1920. (Which they also make in 1/35.)

Interesting, that they include markings for one that isn't British; that hasn't been done before. These armored cars were handed over to the army of the Irish Free State and took part in the subsequent Irish civil war.

Hmm ... hopefully the kit is a lot better than the "historical" blurb above!

You're right, Mike, I had the earlier kit in mind.
