Along with announcing latest titles in SM book series, Rinaldi Studio Press goes all in with their new book series - Technique Guide (TG). Here's the company's press release.
NEW Series from RSP -- TECHNIQUE GUIDE. This new book series will focus on a specific technique to illustrate the best ways to maximize each process for your own projects. They use a modified SM Series format, and incorporate RSP's unique dual text format of the How and the Why.

TG.01 Hair Spray Technique is the first title in this new guide book series. 64-pages in length and covering all aspects of how to successfully use the HS Technique for paint chipping on scale models. (Due in May 2018).

TG.02 Oil Paint Rendering will follow immediately after TG.01 (and also be 64-pages), and showcase the author's signature weathering technique -- going into great detail about oil paint use, application, palette preparation, critical brush work elements, including the mindset needed to see the best from this newer concept in finishing scale models.(Due in May/June 2018).

I've always enjoyed Mike's Tank Art books, owning all 4 volumes. Being a retired Printing Press operator with 35 years of experience I think that the print quality is top notch. But to consistently blame the Printer for delays is BS. Yes, there are mechanical issues sometimes, short of dropping a wrench in the press you're only down a couple of days, tops. Scheduling on a large format press is another thing. If the customer's art work isn't ready you go on to the next job that's ready. You can't have a multi million dollar press sitting idle. You're losing money if you do. So Mike, don't blame the printing company. Take responsibility for not having your art work ready or having the funds to pay for the job or what ever other reason. I REALLY do like my Tank Art books ! And yes, I prefer a printed copy over a digital copy. Call me weird but I enjoy hearing the crack of the spine when you first open it, the smells of the ink & varnish. You miss certain things and smells when you've done it for 35 years. These are my personal views. I don't know what is TRULY going on behind the scenes. They are truly great aids & reads and I will buy Volume 5 once it's released and readily available. Not pre-pay and wait for more than a year. Tom

I have to ask, am I crazy to keep waiting on these books to release? Most current update as of today from the Rinaldi Studio Press Website: "APOLOGIES FOR THE ONGOING DELAYS. SM04 IS CURRENTLY IN PRODUCTION, ESTIMATE ARRIVAL MAR 2020." Guess I've waited this long, I may as well wait a little longer...just venting.

I am still waiting on the SM.03 bonus content pdf. I first emailed Mike about that the beginning of 9/2017. I am looking forward to TG.02 but will wait a bit before ordering it.

I waited a year and finally gave up. They promptly refunded me. I guess if/when they do show up avail, I might pick them up then. Cheers

I can understand having issues with the initial print house, but what's the deal now? Rinaldi found a new printer way before the pandemic and these books should've been printed and shipped already. Yes we are a patient bunch, but at a certain point we'd like to have our books. Sooner than later. Michael, at this point "bite the bullet", pay the higher price for printing, ship our books and cut your loses. If you have a good CPA, you can come out of this making money..
