AK Interactive has released a new book, Paper Panzer: Prototypes & What-if Tanks plus a set of weathering products for weathering unfinished German Tanks.
The book is focused, as the title says, on the so-called Paper Panzers, that never got out of the designing phase (or prototype, at most).
This type of vehicle is becoming increasingly important among the many brands for launching new kits. There has been a boom in this type of modeling, and every time there is a new release it awakens more curiosity among modelers around the world.

This book will load the modeler’s mind with original ideas to address alter – native projects. We will see where the concept of Panzer Papers comes from and its differences with the what if models, besides inspiring us with profiles of all kinds.

It will feature many of the best modelers in the world using the present techniques and will show us how to make some of these vehicles and will leave nothing different behind.

Additionally, the new set of weathering products for unfinished German Tanks can be used either for these tanks or any other unfinished, real, vehicle.

The vehicles in process of assembly in workshops present an unusual and characteristic finish. The reddish hue of the German primer color is very striking and needs special weathering to make the most of it.

With this set the modeler will find the typical reddish color Rotbraun and a wash to highlight the vehicle’s shapes which are painted with this color.
Also the effect to simulate with this color the dust that is accumulated in workshops and factories and even the oxide tones of the plates that were not painted.
It includes a special non-greasy graphite detailing pencil for the bare metal of the worn edges of the vehicles.
This set includes all the basics to achieve a realistic effect of this type of painting. Resulting in an original vehicle, different and with very striking contrasts.

What a great idea for a book, especially in light of the popularity of Paper panzers and the model companies' willingness to bring out every variant ever made -or imagined! Love the AK series of finishing paints and materials and now I can also enjoy their books.

Let me get this straight; a book the proports to tell the modeller the correct way to finish vehicles that never existed?... Have modellers really become that lazy or stupid that they cant demonstrate someindividual, creative thought?
