Pardon Javier, but you really shouldn't lay down such a strong negative without stating reasons and qualifiers. (Perhaps not here but elsewhere in a review thread covering the actual model in question.) I personally know modelers who have been waiting a very long time for such a model and find this offering quite acceptable. The three pre-set spring ratings sort of put me off as well. However what was Das Werk to do, just give you one "average" spring set? Myself I am considering work on building a pair of at least somewhat functional leaf springs. Perhaps they could have also offered a set of springs molded from "good-ole rubber tire material"? I suspect other possible short comings of the model will be corrected over time by the after market suppliers. (I believe Das Werk is already offering a resin closed cab conversion.)

I was in the long discussion at ML related to Das Werk's Faun. Think most of the errors and inaccuracies in the kit were commented in quite deep detail, so surely no need to repeat all these here. I'm a great fan of german trucks and was eagerly waiting for a kit of any these "langnassen" beasts, so was quite excited with the DW release. Sadly, just looking at the 3Ds lots of things didn't look right. "Ok, patience, these are just CAD drawings, let's wait for the real thing". And the real thing came, yes, but sadly showing even more errors. For sure a lot of money had been invested in the CAD process and mould cutting, but clearly poor research and a lot of guesswork marred these. I know researching and understanding a real vehicle when developing a model kit can be slow, difficult and even frustrating when details and areas of it remain obscure, but today's world offers lots of possibilities to gather enough info for a project of this kind: books, original manuals, service pictures, digital archives, company and official archives, enthusiasts, historians, restored vehicles. Yes, it takes time (a lot of time), trips, measurements, pictures, contacts, knowledge of the subject and money, but when all that is properly done it provides for solid references to work from. Correction sets may (or may not) address some of the flaws in the kit, but when these sets are becoming available so soon after the kit's release (even by the same company) questions arises as why the errors were not corrected first in the plastic moulds. Better to wait for accurate info than going for corrections afterwards (and avoiding the bad press). Tamiya has kept one of their latest releases under wraps for a year until getting proper details cleared. Surely DW is not in the same position, but it shows the point. The kit can be built and from a distance will look like a Faun (could be nearly perfect with extra work and corrections), but all the hype and marketing was promising an outsanding truck kit sadly it is not. It's just a truck and not a Tiger, so anyway it will not attract the Flak a Tiger kit with just some tiny, smaller inaccuracies would get, but then hey, I'm just a hardcore truck fan...

Javier please give us a link to your original critique of the model. I for one would be very interested in your insights. I know some of the remarks about the wheels, tires and the lack of an engine but I am certainly no expert on the Faun. I am not saying I disagree with your viewpoint but only that it is better to give at least some detail of proof to support such a strong negative comment. A link to your original comments would suffice.

Thank you. If the main fault of the trailer is wheel rims and tire tread pattern I think I can overlook that (harder to overlook the wheel problems on the Faun) in either case there is a good chance someone will be doing some resin wheels/tires any minute now.

Think Panzerart was already working on some CADs for the trailer wheels.
