New WW2 British Infantry set from Master Box.
“British Infantry. Western Europe. 1944-1945” (3585)

The kit contains parts for British weapons and five figures of British Infantrymen: unit commander, machine gunner and three shooters.

The highlight of the kit is the figure of the commander, it is made in accordance with the multi-pose scheme and allows the modeller to assemble the figure in several versions - in a helmet, with his head uncovered and bandaged, with different weapons and with different positions of hands, giving the modeller the freedom and flexibility in its display.

Very nice indeed... well the Sten issue can be solved I guess and why not equipping him with the Thompson... both look nice and interesting enough The description reads for various weapons to choose from for him. So there might be a Sten in there as well? The boxart on the other hand shows a somewhat weird color... or at least their battle-dress uniforms seem very (too much?) greenish here!?

Plenty of Thompsons used in Italy. Maybe the artist is depicting Canadian-made BD. Still, the artist’s rendition of colours tends to be of zero relevance to me when building the contents of the box, so not a factor for me. The artist also depicts one chap with a SMLE but all have No.4s in the images of the built figures. Nice to have more British infantry anyway, particularly as none of them is pointing or drinking tea.

Ummm...what happened to the 5th figure? Crouching with the Bren? MIA? Steve

These are a very welcome addition to the small stable of British and Canadian figure sets on the market. These look great and will provide some much needed support for the Allied cause against the huge number of German figure sets on the market. The use of the Thompson SMG is fine for me,as the 1ST Canadian Infantry Division used them in large numbers thru Lend Lease from the US until the British could manufacture enough Sten guns to arm Commonwealth Forces. I have several period pics showing the Canadians using them in training before they landed in Italy in 1943.Masterbox, please keep them coming.

Always can use more quality Commonwealth figures. Great poses.

I accept this, but the artwork shows troops of 53rd Welsh Division so definitely NWE. I'm only commenting for anyone using the artwork as a painting guide, presume transfers enclosed for this unit? SF (Commandos and SAS) tended to get hold of Thompsons as they were a much better weapon. In fact post Dunkirk vast quantities of Thompsons were purchased and were in general use. The advantage of the Sten (about the only one!) was that it could fire captured 9mm so no problem sourcing ammunition. The Thompson fired a .45 pistol round. The SMLE could be right, some snipers got these before issue of the No4 T*. Most No4 snipers rifles were Canadian Long Branch made weapons as the quality was perceived to be better. You can recognise them quickly from the ribbing on the top woodwork, not present on British made rifles.

Real nice, but I'd like to see some turtle shell helmets soon, too.

He is shown on the back of the box in the sprues; maybe someone forgot to include in the promo images?
